Shark Diving Destinations

Shark diving is becoming increasingly more popular amonst travellers, holiday makers and thrill seekers alike and there has never been such a wide choice of locations to try it out. If you like the sound of diving with sharks, here are a few of the best places to do it:

South Africa is probably the best shark diving destination on the planet, especially when you consider you can cage dive with extremely large Great White sharks. There are numerous diving locations and highly reputable diving instructors in the country, making it an excellent choice for diving holidays. Although the best single location in South Africa is debatable, I would recommend Aliwal Shoal.

Australia is another very popular and highly regarded location for shark diving, as well as for scuba diving holidays generally. Australia boasts the second largest population of Great Whites on the planet, second only to South Africa. If you are considering a holiday in Australia to dive with shark you should make your way to the Southern coast, as Great Whites prefer the colder waters.

Somewhat surprisingly, you can also go diving with sharks in the United Kingdom (although obviously the sharks will be captive). Cheshire’s Blue Planet Aquarium lets you dive with Sand Tiger sharks, the biggest of which is 10ft long. As well as offering you the opportunity to swim with sharks, but is also home to Europe’s largest collection of shark species for you to enjoy looking at.

Another place you’ll almost certainly want to consider is the Caribbean, which is home to numerous different species of sharks. Caribbean diving will allow you not only to spot sharks and cage dive, but you will be able to free swim with certain species such as the Tiger shark.
